A warm welcome to all.

Welcome to Room 20.

Dear Parents/Guardians:

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to a new year at Howick Intermediate. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child throughout the coming year, which surely promises to bring with it many new experiences and challenges. In order to make the year a successful one, teamwork and cooperation will be required by all. As your son or daughter’s teacher, it is my goal to help him/her become a confident learner and I will do my best to help make this year a positive experience for your child.

I have included an outline of the routines and expectations for this year below. Please read through the information with your child and keep it for future reference.

I look forward to working in partnership with you throughout the coming year and I am confident that together we can provide the support and encouragement needed to help your child excel. If you have any questions now or at anytime in the future, don’t hesitate to contact me at

Sincerely,

Jae Lim

As a class, Room 20 students discussed the four class expectations and what they meant.

1.  Manage yourself and your belongings.

2. Demonstrate consideration for yourself and others.

3. Respond to directions at all times.

4. Take pride in all aspects of school life.

School Diary - It is important that students remember to bring these both to school and home everyday. It is fantastic if parents are able to check in these regularly as they include notices/newsletters, homework and timetables.

Absences - If your child is away for any reason it is important that you phone or email me as soon as possible in the morning to let us know, you are able to leave a voicemail message when calling the school to explain the reason for the students absence. You can contact the school on (09) 534 3922

Uniform - It is really important that the students follow our school uniform code, we have discussed this and have pictures in the classroom and student diary to refer to. If students do not have the correct uniform this means that they lose a green card, which unfortunately means they will not be able to receive their gold card for the next week. This loss of the Gold card means that they lose privileges such as using the swimming pool at lunch, using the tuck shop at morning tea at lunch time (they can still order lunches through the lunch order system).

We need our swimming gear at school every Thursday and Friday and our PE gear at school everyday this term. This is a part of our school uniform and must be worn correctly.
