The Science Roadshow has come to Howick. It is a fun, exciting and interactive learning experience of live shows and hands on exhibits that broaden students knowledge of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Diorama Extravaganza!
Students in the Red Panda group were asked to design a model that simulates the preferred living conditions of a
red panda which worked towards achieving learning goal #6.

Examine some reasons why the Red panda is endangered, analyse the
natural behavior and characteristics of the Red pandas when in its wild
habitat, design and construct an animal enrichment device to make life in
captivity more similar to the wild in order to provide a stimulating
environment.
Our Social Action:
Design and create an animal enrichment toy for an endangered
animal and donate it to Hamilton Zoo to enrich the animals habitat and prevent
stereotypical behaviour.

Annual Swimming Sports Day!
Today Friday 7th of March 2014 marked our annual swimming sports day. It was a great day with great weather and the children were beaming with enthusiasm and cheerfulness! Classes had created chants and banners!
We had each whanau make an outstanding effort to support their swimmers both competitive participants and non competitive!
Whanau Cooper dressed in green, Whanau Ngata dressed in pink and last but not least Whanau Mansfield dressed in an outstanding array of blue! The day commenced at 9 a.m and started off with a line of non-competitive activities and what an uproar it was!
The top whanau with the most points! MANSFIELD!!!

Working as a team, isn't as easy as it seems!
Room 20 spent the afternoon working in teams to map out two mystery letters through a sport called orienteering! Orienteering is an exciting adventure sport that gets kids running and learning at the same time! Recognizing map symbols, learning how to use a compass and gauging distances with accuracy in preparation of our trip to the Botanical Gardens on Monday which you will hear more about soon!
