Our Whanau Topic is Habitat and Conservation.

Our HOT Question:
Examine the kakapo’s natural characteristics, analyse the reasons why the kakapo is endangered as a result of habitat destruction, human intervention, predators and biological reasons and create a device that may help reduce the threats to kakapos.

Our Social Action
Develop detailed drawing for the future construction of a device which hopefully will play a positive part in helping to remove the Kakapo from the endangered wild New Zealand birds list.

HOT Question

Examine the importance of retaining our wetlands, investigate how severe are the threats facing the plants and bird life in the area of wetland and use this information to persuade people in our community so we can restore a ‘healthy’ wetland ecosystem.

Social Action
Create background music for our video so we can educate people about the importance of preserving wetlands in the community.
